The gate posts denoting the entrance to Gibside estate are still
standing and can be seen on the left as you walk towards the green.
There were originally some Gate-houses located nearby - these were demolished in 1798.

Golfer's Tip
This is great golf hole with a 90 degree dogleg left. Big hitters can take
on the trees from the tee and go directly for the flag. If you get past the
corner you will have a medium iron into the green, but this is a downhill
shot. The green has recently ( Spring 2007 ) been completely re-laid to improve
the drainage and now meets with the latest standards. There are no bunkers
but the green is elevated so accuracy is needed with the approach shot.
