"Gate Posts"

The gate posts denoting the entrance to Gibside estate are still standing and can be seen on the left as you walk towards the green. There were originally some Gate-houses located nearby - these were demolished in 1798.

Aim for the bend in the dogleg. This is effectively straight ahead. All trees on the left are out of bounds

Golfer's Tip

This is great golf hole with a 90 degree dogleg left. Big hitters can take on the trees from the tee and go directly for the flag. If you get past the corner you will have a medium iron into the green, but this is a downhill shot. The green has recently ( Spring 2007 ) been completely re-laid to improve the drainage and now meets with the latest standards. There are no bunkers but the green is elevated so accuracy is needed with the approach shot.
