This hole is named after the family which owned the Gibside estate
including the golf course for many years. A member of the
family was the late Queen Mother Queen Elizabeth who spent some of her childhood
in residence. This is the same family who built the Bowes museum in Barnard Castle.

Golfer's Tip
A relatively short par 4 which is a slight dogleg left. There are 2
large bunkers on the right of the fairway some 130 yards from the green, and
if you go beyond these on the right then there are some small trees which
may come into play. Big hitters may be tempted to take on the trees at
the left - good luck! The green is a good size protected by bunkers front
right and front left. It is also worth mentioning the mature tree which is
to the left of the green level with the centre of the green. If your tee shot
is in the fairway then this will present a good birdie opportunity.
