An ancient carriageway to the Gibside estate runs alongside this hole
before going across the fairway towards the original gates on the 7th hole. The
carriageway itself has been infilled.

The approach to the green. Plenty of room at the left.
Golfer's Tip
This is the last of the par 5s and presents a birdie opportunity.
The challenge is to hit a good drive up the left hand side of the fairway
and allow for the fact that all shots will run to the right ( and probably
into the light rough ). A long iron / fairway wood is then required to get
close to the green and again the target should up the left hand side of
the fairway. There is only the one bunker at the front right and
the green itself is quite flat compared with some of the others on the course.
