'Best Kept Secret'
These are the words of
Paul Corney
of Golf North East.
"Whickham's course has been developed on rolling hillside and has to be
one of the most attractive courses in the North of England. The panoramic
views over the Derwent Valley, Tyneside and beyond are simply stunning.
It's not a course for teeing up and testing modern day equipment.....
the emphasis here is on accuracy rather than length and your ability to get
into position to leave the easiest shot to the green."
Whickham are holders of Durham County trophies - The Clark Cup ( Men ) and the Thomlinson Bronze Trophy ( Ladies ).
|
Red-Kites are nesting on the course in Spring 2008.
Whickham is probably the first golf course in the UK to be 'home' to
a breeding pair

Looking from behind the 14th green -
Cheviot hills are far right in the distance

2nd shot into the 7th with the trees from Gibside estate on the left and Derwent
Valley in the distance

This web-site may give you a taste for golf at Whickham
- most of the photographs can be seen in a 'large' window
- simply click on the one that you wish to view.
We also have a small news section which will be of
interest to members. This will be updated
- it will indicate what changes have occurred on the web-site.
Happy browsing and good luck with your next round.
